7000 pilots in ten years. I know myself and I am going to be watching retirements and be bidding most junior seats due to the quick moveup, but not doing so initially. We literally will see entire categories retiring in a given year. Pilots will go from the plug to top 25% within their seat lock time frame. Bidding corrects so that you can move up right when you lock ends will be key. It will also be one way guys will get frozen out of opportunities if not done correctly. (Of course this is on present day size, scope and entity)

Is there a summary of the TA somewhere? Something with info on scheduling, reserve rules, sick time, vacations, hotels etc.

Any info on SEA schedules? Is it true that there is a separate domestic/intl group for the 767?

SEA only has A330 and 7ER. 7ER does domestic and international. ATL is the only base left with a domestic only 75/76 category, and it is slowly going away as well. We could conceivably have new hires in SEA 7ER in a few years, but it's not likely. I've been here 13 years and I can't touch the 330.

Wow. That looks more like a regional schedule. Do the DC9 folks generally like that sort of schedule, or is there a movement to change it?

There's not much to change to for the DC-9. We asked for RJ flying, and the DC-9 is doing it.

...and the 717 will as well. At least the a/c works, or so I've heard.

Also remember than only 15-20% of the list has been hired in the past 13 years. Those metrics will dramatically change going forward.

My buddy started his OE on the DC9. He said the airplane is a lot of fun to fly and likes it. But he said he sat down in the seat for the first time and it was wet from the other dudes sweat.

---
Speaking of hot airplanes. I had a cold one the other morning, which on the 88 is somewhat noteworthy. But what was funny was that we had to sit out waiting for the gate to open and then we taxied into the gate looking like this...

Thanks to a) flying a 70's styled low rider, b) flying into an ATL that was extremely humid and trying to fog in, c) the windows were fogged up due to the my sides anti-fog being on MEL, d) my window being open for taxi and e) packs that were blowing excessive condensation through all of the vents.

Oh if only I could have had a photo of that.
