Hi all if you don't mind can you post info about your set up with reserve. For example we have long call reserve for 5% of the total amount of reserve lines. You have to check crew web at 10am the day before and if there's an assignment for the next day it'll be there otherwise you have the next day off. Short call 1:45 to get to airport 1:00 til pushback. We have three callout periods. One stretch of six days in a row max per month. And we have ready reserve assigned periodically thru the month. (sit at airport). If you could similar info it would be greatly appreciated.

At DL you're at the company's behest for 17-18 days a bid period (giving between 12-14 days off depending on bid period length and staffing- you're on call one less day if a higher portion of the category is on rsv).
You default to long call which is a 12-hour minimum callout, and up to 6 days a month you can be converted to a short call window. That period is 12 hours in length for domestic categories and 24 hours for international, though the 24 hour deal is going away with the FTDT. Callout is a gentleman's 2 hours to sign in.

Republic is...let's make bases in the most non commutable cities...I.e IND CMH GSO. You'll be on call from 3am to 3pm. You have 1 1/2 hrs to be at the airport. Also plan on commuting in the day before since ur reserve starts at 3am. No long call. Once you throw the day before your RSV starts in..your going to get about 4-5 days actually off a month.

US Airways (East). 30-50% of reserve lines in each base/seat are "regular" (long call) and the rest are short call. DCA A320 and PHL E190 trend toward the lower end of that ratio, while PHL and CLT 320 are closer to 50/50. Long call is 9 hours to report, but you often get your assignment the afternoon prior. You can be transitioned to short call, and that happens occasionally depending on staffing. They have to give you 9 hours to get to domicile in that case.
Short call requires you to be "90 minutes normal driving time to the parking lot" ... some wiggle room allotted for traffic, etc. You have a 9 hour PT (protected time) rest window each day, the other 15 you're on call. A fixed PT is assigned to each short call block, but it can be changed daily by scheduling, which sometimes happens.
Trips are assigned in "least time" order based on days of availability, to long calls first then to shorts. You can view the entire process in the computer and estimate how likely you are to get a call.
76 hour short call guarantee, 72 hours on long. Breaking guarantee on long call isn't common, breaking it on short is VERY rare. The best way to extra money is DH, which is only paid at 50% PNC, but ABOVE guarantee, so deadheading for dollars is a reserve's friend.
All in all, it is not as good as some places, but a whole lot better than others. It is predictable, and scheduling follows the rules.

At Alaska we have 11 hour long call with a 75 hour guarantee. They're on call 24 hours at a time. They can proffer trips in open time for the following day. Generally, they're used first and often.
Short call has a 2 hour call out with a 79 hour guarantee. They're on call 15 hours per day with "zones" having a start time from 3am (for early morning reports) till 7pm (for red eyes).
Each reserve line is scheduled to have two 48 hour breaks, one 72 hour break and one 120 hour break for a total of 12 days off. You can only be scheduled into one of your 48 breaks and the duty period that goes into your day off is paid at 250%.
We don't have airport standby.
LC's are used a lot more than SCs. In our LAX base, some SCs won't see a trip for weeks at a time when at the same time an LC hasn't had time to come up for air.

11 days off in a month, 7 are moveable, four are "inviolable". If they move it, they have to restore it. In my experience it doesn't happen that often ... personally, they rolled my day off on reserve ONCE ... with my consent, with a restored day off of my choice, and I was done (one leg back to base) at 7AM on my rolled day.
