Default Jumpseat help overseas! ATH-Anywhere USA

Hi all,

Hate starting a new thread just for this but can't find any info. Does have experience with jumpseating on atlas or similar carrier overseas? I found a website to list for atlas but you need flight info... No idea how to find their flights.

An airways flight cancelled yesterday ATH-PHL and the next few days have gone 0/0. Delta to JFK is also oversold it seems. Aside from ZED faring to another European city (which loads look bleak on myidtravel) I don't know how to check nonsched 121 stuff.

If anyone can help me with an idea to get back to the states on 9/3 ATH- anywhere USA that would be great.

Thanks people!

My understanding is after 9/11 the TSA somehow disallowed international jumpseating in the cockpit by offline pilots. In the last few years I believe the law has changed, but airlines have been slow to change their procedures. Miami Air is the only one I have heard of that does allow offline cockpit jumpseaters internationally currently. However, about a year ago we had an Atlas guy in Toronto trying to jump to DTW. He insisted he had ridden the jumpseat before but we looked it up and our FOM still didn't allow it. But maybe someone from Atlas can chime in on their op specs.

I got ya.

But ideas for ways to get home welcome, outside the usual nonrev and ZEDs. Jumpseat agreement with Atlas says international jumpseaters allowed, I'm assuming for the seats in the back not cockpit

Just put a request in from ATH to somewhere like JFK. You should get an email back from somebody who can help a little more.

Atlas's planes don't have a cockpit door so the whole upper deck is tha same as the cockpit seats. I don't think we can take offline pilots on military flights but we have a regular flight LUX to Huntsville.

Can you get ZED's on Egypt Air? ZED to Cairo. ZED to the U.S.

Tourism is down to Egypt. Watching Egypt Air flights and it's obvious(cruise altitudes/departure angles) that they're flying light.

If you are travelling alone and ZEDing on a European airline, and the gate tells you the flight will be full, ask to get a request to the Captain for one of the jumpseats. He owns all of them. You'll probably end up on a FA/cabin jumpseat but if you need to be somewhere, who cares right?

Lufthansa gives jumpseats , so does Aegean.
Lufthansa has a jumpseat list that you can put yourself on, Aegean just ask the Gate agent to tell the ramp agent to contact the Captain.

I like it! Now that's some out-of-the-box thinking!

'Course it's also a good candidate for the Gutsiest Move of the Day award.
