It's actually a safeguard to ensure all kittens are dispatched. If the nose wheel does not do the job, and the kitten is flung upward and outward, the razor sharp fin will ensure success.

Not only to do they save fuel and protect kittens, those are actually wing mounted carbon footprint offsets that are preventing global warming.:cool:
