Delta MEC Maneuvering, aka coup
#172
What are you try to convey here?
IF. If pilots participated more THEN we would not have a deposed regime carrying out an overthrow of KR?
Pilots did participate. They elected LEC leadership that promised to effect change. They were working on that when Harwood, Hazard and friends decided that was a threat to their relevancy. Hence the coup d'état.
By the way, why did you edit and pull your previous post that described your shout down experience with O'Malley Bar?

You've put your finger on the biggest issue in this whole mess.
Line pilots are completely out of the loop. We have no idea of the reasons our Master Chairman was voted out and that is absolutely an appalling state of affairs.
All this political maneuvering needs to be brought out into the open and put in some context so the members can know what is going on with our union.
I don't have a problem with anybody's election or anybody's recall, but I'd like to know the reasons. I think we deserve to know. We're paying tons of money for these guys to play these games.
And in one month we are going to elect another Chairman. Again, with the line pilots having no idea who is even running or being considered or what the issues are that separate the candidates, etc. etc. It is completely baffling for an organization that likes to stress how "democratic" they are and open to member input.

Here is the problem condensed.
Pilots began having issues post merger as two different MECs combined.
Some grievances and many resolutions ignored or tabled.
Alternative representation group is formed, starts collection of interest cards.
A C12k contract that shocked everyone initially with 4-8-3-3, followed by the sales push.
Change was desired, unity was needed, to enhance DALPA to move towards being relevant. (you being the biggest cheerleader for this logical and plausible way to address the unions short comings-I adopted this philosophy)
LEC reps were being voted in by pilot involvement that espoused the idea of changing for the better.
Progress is made. Roberts becomes MEC chair.
And bang. A cabal of reps/committee chairs that could be considered obstructionist while in office and do not like the progressive changes stage a coup d'état. They first arrange to have the forum shut down prior to their move and then they targeted the sitting MEC Chairman. Now they are actively trying to negatively campaign and remove a sitting rep to complete their hijacking of the union and install one of their own as MEC chair.
So much for unity and effectively seeking changes through active involvement.
Any other ideas to stop this outright hijacking of our union?
One idea now has 5600 cards and growing. Your other idea was just overthrown.

You should point out that lesson to your boy Carl! If you really believe I think SWAPA is "mythical" then there's no further discussion.

It was a great post, but Bar is easily convinced by DALPA folks to retract them if they're too great.
