Relocation assistance?

Relocation assistance?
What is the industry standard on relocation assistance?
Do you recieve assistance if you are a new hire?
If you change domiciles (due to upgrade, or simply due to a bid based on seniority, etc.)?
Just wondering in general.
Thanks

Having just spent my own money on my first Non Military move, The answer is a resounding no for a voluntary move.(Like moving to your Domicile as a New Hire, volutarily bidding a new base or equipment)
The only time you will get money from an airline is when they close a base, like Delta and DFW. Then you have a set amount of time to accept the company paid move to your new domicile. Of course, like everything else, this is spelled out in eash airlines indvidual contract and differs fro carrier to carrier.
Basically if you accept a bid to new equipment or domicile thats going to change your location. you must pay for your move, or commute. If the company forces it on you, then they pay for the move.

At SWA if they open a new base, they pay for your move if you move to within 200 highway miles of the base. A base is consideed new for six months from the time it opens. You then have 24 months to to actually make the move. I bid into MCO when it had new base status and actually moved seven months later.
