Thanks scambo! That's good news. My daily commute now is 1-1.5 hrs from NoVA to ADW, through DC beltway traffic, so the drive sounds like no threat to me at lower frequency. Will there be trouble during heavy commute times coming from that direction?

I-75 is always slow during rush hour. If you got short called at 6 or 7 AM on a weekday, you would be a while getting to Hartsfield from Chattanooga.
It would be a very rare occurrence however that you got one of the "how fast can you get here" short calls exactly during morning rush hour. You usually have plenty of time.
I don't think it would be a problem to sit short call in CHA.

You need to consider all factors. Like is the sister hot? ;)

Anyone have trouble commuting DC-ATL as a new guy? Still no training date yet, but I hope to bid ATL out of the gate. I'll be commuting from DC for probably my first year (until my wife decides to move anyway). Between IAD and DCA there appear to be numerous options to/from ATL every day. Am I fooling myself?

Tons of flights and not many DAL JSers in my experience doing the route but that's just my experience from flying the route on the 88, not trying to commute on it.

But sometimes guys there turn northward and take the shuttle and fly out of NYC where seniority goes further.

I'm in a similar boat commuting out of DC. Was planning on NYC, but read somewhere on the forums the DTW might have better flight/seniority options and isn't too bad of a commute either. Any opinions on DTW vs NYC for a new guy commuting...and hoping to keep that commute to a minimum by getting senior in whatever domicile or airplane is best to do that as quickly as possible?

NYC over DTW. Much shorter flight with far more options including the train.

NYC hands down. Commute is easier from DCA, and NYC is more junior.
