Default DAL ATL Newhire

Anyone have any insight into the likelihood of a Newhire getting ATL right out of the gate. If not, is there a seat lock that would keep you out of ATL for a certain period of time?

A seat lock doesn't mean base lock. You want to make sure the base you want has the fleet you are going to be getting. From what I hear the most junior in ATL will be the 717 and M88. It sounds like you could get ATL based on what someone else wrote recently:

In conclusion there were 31 unfilled ATL M88B's and 18 NYC M88B's unfilled.

That appears to be the current offering for new hires.

I suspect most classes will have some ATL positions based on where the additional block hours planned will be placed. The question is what will your seniority within the class be and what do those senior to you want. I would say chances are good.

Thanks for the info. I live in BHM so ATL on any fleet would be preferred given a choice. The occasional BHM layover would be an added bonus.

If ATL 88 isn't avail during class, then take 88 somewhere and get to ATL soon. 30 hour layovers in BHM occasionally. I wish someone would bid them on purpose.

I would bid every BHM layover given the choice with a fat smile on my face.

Happy New Year
Plenty of guys in all the "near in" cities that avail themselves of the layovers at home.

If you want to be based in ATL in your first year, your chances will be best if you get on the 88 or 717. The 320 in ATL also goes pretty close to the bottom of the seniority list right now, but that could change as things progress.

Someone already covered it, but to re-emphasize: you are seatlocked (in aircraft type) for one year as a new-hire. However, you can change bases, to another base that has vacancies on your aircraft, via our AE (Advanced Entitlement) process. Lately they've been running AE's every 60-90 days, and they say that should continue.

Welcome! We are all glad to have you aboard!

This is where we insert the old line "the old hotel was better."
