Default 2 JetBlue questions

So you get paid the greater of;
"5 hours per DUTY period.
or
1 hour for every 3.5 hours time away from base.(trip rig)
or
1 hour for every 2 hours of duty time (ie 12 hour duty day pays at least 6 hours) (duty rig)"
What if you do a 1 day Bos to Austin and back (let's call it 7.5 flight time)....you get paid for 7.5 hours, not 5, right????

Also, will Flica and PBS work well on a iPad, or do you need a laptop?

Thanks.

We are paid the greater of block or one of the associated rigs you mentioned. So yes the AUS turn would pay the 7.5 hrs. Flica works just fine on iPad. PBS no. Must use a laptop or desktop.

greater of "actual flown", scheduled, or one of the rigs above.

remember all rigs are averaged so if you fly 1 hour day one, 7 hours on day two, and 7 hours day three. you get paid 15 hours. not 19

PBS requires windows to work on labtop. Not sure if the web version works well on the IPAD or not. Flica works ok on the Ipad.

There is a web-based version of the PBS that works fine on the ipad.

Yeah I'll second that. The web based version on my iPad is all I ever use.

And that's how they get ya. Trip averaging, rig averaging, whatever. This language needs to be collectively abolished from our working agreements because, on paper, they look good. Until you realize the company builds pairing to "marginalize" the rigs and you only "see" the "true" average of 5 hours per day.

The intent of a trip rig, duty rig, and or min day rig is to compensate the pilot for his time away from home and family and to get paid while we are at work (we are paid by the "hour") and to penalize the company for unproductive pairings.

Many rigs are canceled out with "averaging" language. We must rid our contracts of this language. Here and now.

Having used the desktop version for 8 years I would consider the web based iPad version almost unusable. Extremely painful to use especially if you have some seniority and can bid specific trips on specific days. Maybe it would be useable for basic RSV days off preferences but that's about it. I installed Navtech PBS on my home machine and bid as we always have with the desktop version. Leave the web version for the FAs as they have never had access to the desktop version since they were never issued laptops!

We used to get laptops issued to us by the company, but they switched to iPads. Pros and cons to both, but it is what it is.
