It probably is revenue with Norway based pilots as they don't have a U.S. base or employees (yet?).

That's the yardstick for ExPat Widebody Capt. pay today.

For a comparison, today's DL 747/777 Capt. rate is $262/hr. 75 hours = $19,650/mo.
I'm NOT making a case FOR EK nor am I making a case AGAINST DAL. But just for the sake of comparison, you're NOT using all the pertinent info in your hard and fast numbers.

The $19,650 you're quoting is the PRE-TAX gross for a DAL pilot. Toss in the guys mortgage(S), whatever and then show how much the guys ACTUALLY gets in his bank account per month?

With the compensation, housing, and everything else, the EK "take home" after expenses probably isn't that different, and could possibly be higher.

Like I said, I'm JUST talking about the income. Not all the other factors of living in DXB, QOL, non-union, etc etc etc...........

I've known more than one guy, went over there, did his 36 month bond (or whatever it was/is), came home with a pile of money. MORE than he would have made in the states at a regional, WHEN THE LEGACIES STILL HAD PILOTS ON FURLOUGH.

Also, I'd have to look at some of the Asian T'C's they offer, but that EK $10k may NOT be the "yard stick", it might simply be the most popular. Also, many of the Asian contracts are commuting, that can be rigged for MORE time off than people think. At EK, that's not really an option.

You bring up a point that I thought about at the beginning of this thread... You mention mortgages as thought they are a bad thing, but you are forgetting that most Americans like living in America! Not to mention a whole bunch of pilot from all over the world come here to learn to fly and get a job. I'd much rather pay a mortgage here in the US and I never think of that as a bad thing in comparison to the free housing some companies offer in some far away land. I have no idea if Norwegian will end up being approved, but if they do, I'd venture to say that anybody looking to fly for a foreign carrier will look there first even if the pay isn't up to emirates or etihad for the simple fact that they can continue to live here in the good ol' USA.

You missed the point. I was simply talking about compensation, NOTHING else. Did you miss the part where I SPECIFICALLY stated that?

And the housing bubble/crash demonstrated, having a mortgage is ONLY a "good thing" if you're smart with your money/investments. Sadly it's been proven, pilots AREN'T always good at that.

I wasn't born into this industry yesterday. I know how my income tax works, and I know how the Emirates system works. I thought we'd already beaten the Emirates Pay/Benefit horse to death. I was in Dubai last week, I'll be there again next week, for my 100th+ Dubai layover.

They seem to be the most popular for expats (unless you aren't qualled, like Ms. Hersman's ignorant stalker ), that's why I'm using them as the yardstick for expat jobs.

Can we get back on topic, or is that not allowed?

The TOPIC of this thread is; this new Norwegian outfit!

My question is: What are they going to PAY their Wide Body Captains?

Sorry, your post indicated otherwise

Yeah, which is what I was pointing out.
