I wouldn't worry about it too much. VX has a history to going into markets with a big splash and leaving 6 months later with their tail between their legs.

This isn't some outstation, they want to make a mini hub out of this. If VX fails this could be the end for them.

Sugarcoat how you like but Spirit is a trash product. No shame in it and your company makes a lot of money doing things how they do.
The job of getting the airplane from A-B is the same from a pilots perspective but it is a whole different story for the passengers. |

What airline hasn't done that? While "leaving with one's tail between their legs" might make for a sensational argument in your eyes, significant pullbacks in a market you thought you would take over is essentially the same thing just not as dramatic. |

I wonder if DC is letting his hometown bias affect this decision to go into Love Field. Because you're right, they got a gift with the slots and they are betting it all on DAL.

How, exactly, would you know this? Do you have a seat on the board?

Interesting that when DAL wants to come in and compete, you refer to it as "hubristic". Make no mistake, if we got those gates, we WOULD use them, and we WOULD make money. SWA on the other hand, buys Airtran, and talks how they are gonna come in and take Atlanta. What's their flight count now? Hint: A LOT less than it was at the time of the merger. Clark Howard is on a ventilator because of it.
The problem is that SWA is still viewed as a LCC by those in the position to control those gates, and for that I tip my hat to SWA management. It still doesn't change the fact that wherever we have gone head to head, we will beat them.... |
