Aries, with only 8 years as an 'O', I would think that you are junior enough as an officer to be able to extend. Have you allready put in your papers? I cant' believe that there is RIF going on. If it were me, I'd stay if I could and rack up more turbine pic time to get about 1500. If you get out now it could take many years to upgrade before you can start collecting PIC time again. Bengalsfan,

Yes, you can take as much time off as you need from the regional to pursue your military flying. And the bonus is you still accrue seniority at the regional while doing it! The regional (or any company for that matter) is obligated to allow military to pursue their duties as needed.

We have many people at my company who take a week off every month and do the guard/reserve thing.

I would definately say that for you, it would be the best of both worlds.
