Delta pays more, has way more variety of flying--from wide body international to narrow body domestic, even some Alaska flying. I'm 99% (and too lazy to do the research to get to 100%) certain that the Jr SEA guy is a 2015 hire. Alaska is a great company that does some really cool flying, goes to a lot of cool places, has lots of good folks, and a solid legacy. If you want to live in NW, want as a good a guarantee as exists in this business that you'll never have to commute [far], it'd be hard not to go hard after Alaska. Delta is making a huge push in SEA, but who knows how long it'll last. Or how senior it'll get once things equalize. Both companies are in good places financially, both hire great people, either would make a great home. I can't tell you how much is enough for you and your family (and holy heck has the pac NW gotten expensive), but with a mil retirement I suspect you'd do just fine at Alaska. I have trouble believing that the "culture" of either is much greater, you'd probably be happy at either. Look at outside factors that are important to you and yours. Of course, until you get hired by both you really don't have much of a problem. Good luck. |

When did United switch Air Lines to Airlines.... At LAX the United Air Lines hanger is spelled wrong.. Or should I say spelled correctly.

But they changed the name, according to internet, it was because of the Air Mail Fiasco Air Mail scandal - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. Operating from Florida to California and Mexico. In 1928 they flew passengers and cargo for Peruvian Airways (a Pan Am subsidiary, so Pan Am helped start it's eventual buyer). C.E. Woolman buys the company and names it Delta Air Service in 1928 because Delta = Mississippi Delta. Started flying Travel Airs. 1930 became Delta Air Corporation. Didn't win a mail contract. 1934 wins its first mail contract as Delta Air Lines. |

Going back to the earlier discussion about DAL and Alaskan cohabiting SEA, here is my point with this all being about Asia. Check out the A350 range out of SEA:

So you can run larger yet smaller and more efficient jets with better margins. IMHO the only thing DAL wants to do in SEA domestically is properly feed those A350s. If HVCs are coming out of Fargo for example then there will be a 739 doing SEA-FAR, if not, then they won't serve it unless they want to pack the place and make it hard for competitors to operate international flights and properly feed them. |

So far Delta building up in Seattle has only helped my seniority so I say keep up the good work! 206 new-hires this year 151 last year.... Can't complain. |
