Concur that getting info from your reps is a great idea. As far as a bunch of whiners, I'll reiterate my reply to Southerner that he didn't bother responding to: an NC member, BPF founder, one of the MECs, several LEC reps, and committee members and chairpersons are on BP and post regularly. Which of them are the whiners that should quit, and which positions did you volunteer for?

Don't presume to know anything about what I've volunteered for, or how involved I am. I've been to union meetings, and I have filled out the online form twice to try to volunteer for several committees. No response. If they are hurting for volunteers, you sure can't tell from their lackluster response to requests to help. I'm not the only one who has volunteered with no response.

My problem with BluePilots is that many people on there have NO respect for anyone who may offer a different point of view, or might disagree with them. Instead of having a good discussion, they immediately attack that person. If any of the people who immediately shoot down others are committee members or ALPA representatives, I would lead the charge to remove them from office. There's no room for that in any union that I'm a part of. We have to work together in unity, and that kind of divisiveness is ignorant, unprofessional, and despicable. (I'm not sure who is or isn't a member on BP.com)

Is BP more divisive and immature than this quote?

As far as who is on there that are reps, BPF, etc: if you truly don't know than you have not done your homework. Their identities are not hidden. I also volunteered for many committees with no initial response. I then contacted my LEC rep who figured out the links were defective and forwarded my name to the respective committees. Did you try that at the meetings you attended? Because I know for a fact we are still seeking backups and P to P volunteers...

It's truly fine to not care for BP. I get it's not everyone's cup of tea, and certain posters are just plain idiots. Maligning the whole site and everyone that posts there is intellectually lazy at best.

I malign the whole site because those who are influential do nothing to fix it. They don't chastise anyone for being rude. They don't try to set up an effective moderator list to try to right the ship. It's a wasteland of no rules, no holds barred web posting, and it's extremely unprofessional. It should be unceremoniously shut down, and everyone should post on the ALPA web board. Everyone has to have dreams, I suppose.

As far as knowing who people are, I intentionally pay no attention because if I ever start associating some of those people to pilots in the real world, I won't be very unbiased when/if I ever meet them in person. Professionals do not act that way towards each other.

I have also said I could help. Have I pursued it as much as I should, probably not. I am considering getting involved very soon, but that is none of your business and has nothing to do with BP or this discussion. I agree with Southerner 100% that if these people you speak of are on BP, NONE of them are trying to stop the BS that people post on there. I will stay away from BP as it is not for me. With all due respect, there is nothing you can say to change my mind.

Bluepilots is what it is. Some people like it, others tolerate it, and some hate it. To each their own, but let's keep moving forward and working towards a CBA.

Respectfully, what it has to do with the discussion is when you guys say everyone on BP is a whiner or the same 10 a-holes jerking each other off. If you're going to call out some of our most selfless pilots who have devoted 1000s of hours to our group, I'm sure as heck going to ask what you're doing to make things better here. Are there are a few immature jack-arses on there? Absolutely. Have some of the more responsible guys called them out on it? Yep. I've done it personally and identified myself in the process when I felt a guy went to far.

Regardless, I'm not trying to change your mind or Southerner's. If you don't like it there, fair enough.

But, for the newer guys on here who are curious, or have tried to join, I don't care for the site being incorrectly characterized, or for the posters to all be lumped in the same bag. We can agree that a more active and lively ALPA board would be helpful as well.
