If that's correct, he's not near 65 yet, won't even be 60 until next year. I wonder who wrote that Wiki.

They forgot to mention he worked for Frank Lorenzo in 1983 and helped take Continental and Eastern apart...

He's from Houston, just like Lorenzo and Bush 1, who looked the other way while Frankie was destroying Eastern.

I wish more people paid attention to RA's airline background. The duck thing.... applies here.

I think people are paying attention to his results here. Rather than trying to figure out what species he is, they're evaluating what he's actually done here.

When I was junior I had to fly several trips with a scab named Gordo. I did my job as best as I could, and later, when I upgraded to captain, I didn't do anything like him.

It's obvious to me that Richard learned what -not- to do, when it comes to talking/negotiating with the pilots. He saw what happens when you pizz them off enough to walk, at both CAL and EAL.

My question is, when is our MEC going to grown some stones and start showing how much money the Delta Pilots have contributed to Delta's record earnings, and demand that we be repaid?

How they let Richard's remark that "Labor Risk has been taken off the table" go unchallenged is beyond me.

Without Labor Risk, what leverage does any Union have when it comes time to negotiate?

Our MEC reminds me of that scene from Animal House where the frat boy is spanking the pledge with the big paddle, and the pledge is yelling, "Thank you Sir! May I have another?"

Richard is holding the paddle, while our MEC is bent over, begging to be spanked again.

I agree with you. I would add that he was also present as an executive during the NWA strike in 1998. I think he learned from that, too.

I thought the topic was Richard Anderson retiring, and your suggestion that he learned from Lorenzo. Here's what you wrote:

"They forgot to mention he worked for Frank Lorenzo in 1983 and helped take Continental and Eastern apart...

"

I think there's been enough contrast between Lorenzo and Anderson that we can dismiss the notion that he's a "Lorenzo clone".

We view his comment differently. I think he put himself in a box. He assured Wall Street that his union will be happy. Now he has to deliver on that assurance. There's a lot of rhetoric on this forum (and elsewhere) about what it would take to keep us happy, but I contend the final Yes/No vote on the TA will be the verdict that counts.

I, for one, hope the good cop leaves and the bad cop enters. Maybe it would light a fire under our membership And maybe we will stop hearing, "I got RA's personal Cell phone number on quick dial."
