In the very unlikely case that you are near Central PA, I use Dr. Linda Goepfert.
Maybe seek out recommendations from pilots who a) have eye issues and b) are not cheap about such things?
Perhaps work it backwards? Contact one of the Aeromedical advisory services to find an Ophthalmologist who does work for pilots, and then see if they can recommend an Optometrist.
Or perhaps ask an AME who does a lot of first class medicals if he has any suggestions?
In my case I just got lucky. I was unhappy with my Costco glasses, and knew that she was supposed to be very good (but a lot more expensive than Costco). I was taken by surprise when she knew what Jepps were. In retrospect I should have gone out and bought lottery tickets that day.
