It's called perspective. Someday after you've had a chance to fly multiple jet airliners you'll understand why we have a beef with the 737's ergonomics and noise level. Or maybe you're just trolling.

As a former 120 guy I give you the embraer CBA-123. Brasilia pusher plane. Would have been quiet.

Okay, if you really want somebody to blame for the Max, blame Airbus and their 320NEO. From my reading of events at the time it appeared Boeing was happily chugging down the road of a clean-sheet replacement for the 737, but when Airbus decided to go the re-engine route for their narrowbodies, it forced Boeing's hand. Boeing would have lost too much market share to the 320NEO by the time their clean-sheet design hit the market.

It is and it isn't a common type. There still has to be an approved differences course, training, and checking. 787 type doesn't automatically have 777 like 757/767 does.
At least the back of my license doesn't have it
Attached is the FAA letter concerning the common type

Thank you for clearing that up. Surprised it went 6 pages and not sure why that misconception is still prevalent. The B777 type rating and B787 type rating are separate under the FAA. They are a common type rating under EASA and many other regulators.
Oh, and the B787 is very quiet in the flight deck. Far quieter than a B777, which is better than a B737.
