Delta vs. FedEx

Received offers from DAL and FDX, and went with FDX. Don't regret it for a second, after flying pax for a decade. PM me if you want.

Awesome job, off to purple. Regarding pilots and boxes (not cargo but tech). 797 delayed or scrapped for now was Pilot left seat Box in the right capable. Planned initially with 2 down to 1. It’s really 4 or 3 long haul pilots down to 2 pilots is the initiative. Boeing has been working on it, Airbus as well (w/Cathay now). Insurance remains low, ability to blame is high so no worries for management. Inevitable but baby steps thru regulations, acceptance, etc. we have some time, how long is anybody’s guess. Tech jump has increased leaps and bounds compared to FAX times (I still have one, holding my trailer door open during hot summers

Another reason people are retiring early at FedEx, is because we can. If you have a 130K annual pension (that can be pumped up to over 145K/yr with the social security leveling option), add the vacation pay you've earned and bonus if you're eligible, and you can go for quite some time without drawing from your 401K, particularly if you have savings.
Even though our A plan is losing ground due to inflation, 130K/yr still a substantial amount of money, especially since you don't have to pay Medicare and FICA taxes on it.

Glad to hear. Been flying regional 5+ years and got CJO from JetBlue and invite to interview from Delta but also got CJO from FedEx around the same time so decided to decline the others and go all in with FedEx and I dont regret leaving passenger world especially these day. Super excited to start training.

I'm in a similar situation, although I have already left where you are at. I am looking at an end of January Delta class and an April Fedex class. I am very strongly thinking of going to Delta then make the decision of what to do when the time comes with FedEx. Don't want to risk something happening over those months and I am at the bottom of a seniority list right now anyway.
