Yep, for offline pilots you are correct. My point was that for American and Southwest you can and that is 100% the preferred method.

Good news is, it's currently showing open (i.e., no one has listed for it). An online guy could list for it up until the gate agent assumes control (~1 hour prior); and I think online guys have walk-up priority until 15 (?) minutes prior. Mostly right except online guys ALWAYS have priority over off line, up until door closure, regardless of what time they show up. Also, I have been able to call in a JS listing on my phone as I was going from E to A and list myself inside of an hour, I think the actual cut off for the computer/phone listing is closer to 30 minutes prior to push.
