You sound like a Bernie-bot. You out for revenge on the successful people as well? I'm sure things will pick up man👍

You really think "they" will care about the jobs of America pilots? To them we are part of the rich and should be taxed, to them flying is a public service. They most certainly will allow airlines like Norwegian to fly here all because of "lowering prices".

As far as tax plans go. Do you really think instituting the largest tax increase in history will do anything other than tank the economy? This is the proposal just in the federal level, combined with state and local we will be the most taxed nation in the world.

Don't flatter yourself, we are not part of the "rich". I've been flying the "rich" around the world for a while now and the look at us pilots making 250k/yr like bugs swarming on a pile of crap. I've known the people who buy elections, and those who they elect. The system is broken. On top of that, when has a president ever been able to actually institute his tax plan exactly as proposed?

250k is easily achieveable at the majors these days.

The problem with this tax increase isn't that it would be implemented, (even the socialists in ca wouldn't be that stupid to vote it in) it's that he actually believes that doing so would be beneficial and not cause a massive recession. People advocating for these things don't understand basic economics.

Those who dont know history are doomed to repeat it.
Every time taxes have been cut, the government actually brings in more revenue and the economy improves. And I would rather have rich bosses who can afford to keep me employed and people who are payed enough to keep buying airline tickets. Let the money pass from person to person....not person to government.

"FDR won his long-term battle to retain the withholding tax and keep a large percentage of Americans paying incomes taxes. But in the next generations, Presidents Kennedy and Reagan were each able to slash the top rates; Presidents Clinton and Bush were able to cut the capital gains tax as well. These rate cuts created more revenue, and sparked economic growth in the U.S"

By the way, I heard the southwest pilot was out of jail.

Thatcher said it the best, "they would rather the poor be poorer as long as the rich are not as rich".

SO true.

"I sent my kid to college and all I got for my 4 years of tuition was a Berniephile"

FDR. The beginning.
FDR's solution was to convert the income tax from a class tax to a mass tax. Before World War II, fewer than 5 percent of Americans paid income taxes. "Too many people," Roosevelt lamented, "are earning money and not contributing to the government." When a Treasury official suggested lowering personal exemptions, Roosevelt was delighted. "Of course I want that. I have been trying to get it for years but nobody will help me do it." From 1939 to 1944, with Roosevelt's blessing, the amount of money families could earn before they had to pay income taxes declined from $2,500 to $1,000 for married couples. That meant that from 1940 to 1942, the number of Americans paying income taxes jumped almost tenfold, from 4 million to 39 million. Furthermore, the starting tax rate skyrocketed from 4 percent to almost 24 percent

The problem is kids have it too easy these days, they have had everything basically handed to them and have been told they are so special. They are almost bored with life so they look for things to get outraged at. This explains "safe spaces" and all causes of "Justice" they take up.

I honestly think the best solution would be a national draft. Make everyone serve four years in the military to see how the real world works not the fantasy the bernouts think it is. No democrat would every be elected again if that were the case.

Ok, this is a joke, possibly you found a quote from 1964 right? The rest of the narrative is that when I grew up, I did not have a bicycle, so my kids should not have one either. Or I had to walk 5 miles to school barefoot, in the snow, both ways. Kids nowadays are just ingrates, they don't know how good they have it and they should not have any more than I had. See, I grew up perfect.

Let's conscript everyone, (even women) so what if it is the same as involuntary servitude or slavery? We will give you a choice, submit to the governments' control or we will put you in jail. Well, you can go to Canada, if you choose. If our industrial military complex decides to use their shiny new weapons for killing people that you don't know, in far away lands, you may die, (58,000 in Vietnam plus 6000 more in the ME because we didn't learn anything the first time), but us capitalist will become incredibly wealthy. Anyway, it's your turn to die for me, so I can be safe and buy a new boat.

Does anyone wonder why Bernie has appeal?

I agree with your national "draft", or at least a requirment to do a few years of public service or missionary work. I also agree that the whole "safe space" and "social justice" stuff has gotten completely out of hand.

But as a 30 year old, I get kind of miffed when the older generations say how "entitled" and narcissistic we are.

Our parents could work for a summer and then use that money to pay for that years university tuition. That just isn't possible anymore. People used to be able to get a middle class job out of high school and buy a house, support a family, all while contributing to their retirement. You need an advanced STEM degree to be able to afford a family in your mid twenties now, if you can recover from the 100k+ debt that you accrued.

Furthermore, I postulate that the Baby Boomers are the absolute worst generation foisted on the western world in centuries. Look at their track record: Erosion of our manufacturing base, the housing crisis, two quagmire wars, oil STILL being a liability after knowing it is a finite resource for a hundred years, selling out to wall street while bankrupting medicare/medicaid which the millennials are going to have to try to find a way to salvage. All this happened while they were at the helm.

To make matters worse, they came right after the greatest generation who saved us from the Nazi's and Imperial Japan, then sent a man to the moon.

I understand these are huge generalizations, but again, I work hard, have been incredible blessed with awesome parents and a great support structure, and have had tremendous opportunities in the military and civilian aviation world. But I don't think my friends who are slogging it out as baristas after being promised that their college education (which everyone seems to have to get these days as a baseline to enter the work force) are just lazily immersed in their smart phones.

Again, these are gross generalizations, but I just had to get that monkey off my back.

Am I wrong here? someone set me straight.
