Ok I was out today studying with one of my instructors for an up coming ride. Anyway we were discussing medical examiners. He is a captain on a 737 for Continential and was telling me about one of his former first class medical examiners. This guy was an opthalmic surgeon AKA an Opthamologist as well as a captain for American when they flew the Boeing 747SP. Right so this was a while back... I was flabbergasted... the stankin guy had a medical practice on the side!! And its true I looked it up, he's from Nashville, and flew for American and worked his medical practice around his flight schedule.
Has anyone else ever heard of this before!?!?!?!?!?!?
I have no clue why this impressed me so much, maybe the double life aspect... The fulfillment of multiple passions. The multidisplinary approach... I dunno, it was food for the imagination at anyrate.

Airline Pilots are varied bunch with many talents and interests. I've met doctors, lawyers, veterinarians, real estate tycoons, and even a multi-millionaire patent holder - all who practice their specialty and all who fly the line. I'm sure all of them have moved-on, I can't imagine them working in today's airline labor environment.

I, myself, have attempted to work as a part time gynecologist.
I find it much easier to find the work, while on the road, though. And, safer. Although, it's still quite hard, when you find yourself in those tight situations.
Maybe CargoBob was right, afterall?

Stand corrected, played for the Rams, finished at Green bay. Played for Charlotte in between the two.
