It's not very often there is someone sitting opposite you in ATL... only the FDX/UPS and corporate departures which are few and far between end up opposite facing. They probably didn't even notice or think about it.
Fine by me. Takes about a quarter second to look down if the parking brake is set. -UA |

For the sake of standardization most DL pilots treat every airport like ATL.

This is the same fleet at the same company that needed a bulletin about when the logo light should be on or off so they have tried to fix stupid but with mixed results.

Too many bulletin's and procedures these days..On the 88 we spend more time now telling the other crewmember what we are doing verbally than actually flying the plane.

When I was a CRJ-200 captain, I had my taxi lights (wing roots angled down) on and strobes on entering 21R at DTW. The fine professional in the DC-9 opposite me turned on all his lights in my face as I was lining up because he didn't like the extremely dim taxi lights on in my barbie jet being shined somewhat in his direction.
I thought for a moment to really light him up in retaliation or even say something on the radio, but decided otherwise in the name of actual professionalism. If you don't like the lights of the guy on the runway, look away. They are the ones in the line of fire, not you. |

The new stuff is night and day better than the banging away on the FGP/FCP/FCU while the other guy looks out the window. It basically codifies being a good pilot and team player... I'm a big fan.

I think people are reading a bit much into it... really, the biggest change is confirming when it's time to press the clear key. That's really what it boils down to. It shouldn't distract the PF from being PF much, just keeps them in the loop a bit more.
