Correct.

To win, either USAPA or ALPA need only a majority of votes cast.

If a majority of eligible voters fail to cast ballots, then no union at all.

Which is pretty much the same as a USAPA win.

............

The only thing that drives USAPA is the idea that you can undo Nicolau by disenfranchising the west and voting in a contract that will effectively gut the list.
Correct!

Being furloughed from a major airline, unfortunately, is not uncommon and should not void years/decades of employment with a company. Approx 1,100 guys were furloughed post 9/11 when the company invoked "Force Majeure". The additional furloughs, pay-cuts & concessions financed the AmWest merger on the backs of the East employees. Your current "virtual" profits exist because of East concessions. ALPA capitulated to said concessions and should be removed. The merger was the best thing to ever happen at AmWest and the worst for the East, previously a leader in industry contracts. And the Nicholau award is an affront to every major airline pilot who has donned the uniform. You'll never reap the benefit of the award because USAirways will be acquired, fragmented or dissolved within the decade. Not a big deal for West guys because the West was never considered a career destination prior to the merger anyway. The East is mere shadow of it's former self. I wish you the best and hope you have your resume current.

Nobody voided yours.

How many times do you have to be told that LOS does not automatically equate to seniority?

You ended up in the same relative position on the merged list that you were in on the seperate list.

Now I know you're debating from emotion.

Are you aware at all of where the financing for this merger came from?

You're company's continued survival was financed off the backs of the employees, that's all.

Your current "virtual" profits exist because of East concessions.

Try reading the SEC 10K reports, both prior to, and after financial integration.

ALPA capitulated to said concessions and should be removed.

The reps that you elected did the job.

Did you remove them?

The merger was the best thing to ever happen at AmWest and the worst for the East, previously a leader in industry contracts.

Yep, way.....way previously.

You just can't grasp that the world has changed, and that what went on before is absolutely irrelevant.

And the Nicholau award is an affront to every major airline pilot who has donned the uniform.

Nope.

It's an arbitrated methodology for merging two disparate seniority lists that put you in almost exactly the same place you would have been had there been no merger.

It's only an affront to you because you didn't get your way.

You'll never reap the benefit of the award because USAirways will be acquired, fragmented or dissolved within the decade.

Very possible, but the list will still be the list.

Not a big deal for West guys because the West was never considered a career destination prior to the merger anyway. The East is mere shadow of it's former self. I wish you the best and hope you have your resume current.

Ahh, the inevitable "rookie" swipe.

Don't debate anything factual, just try to reinforce your self-worth and point out to the world how far superior you are, how wronged you were, and just how much you're owed.
So finally you admit that USAPA is all about just screwing the west, gutting Nicolau, and getting your way by tyranny of the majority.

I'm sorry your career has turned out badly, but the central thing that you fail, repeatedly, to grasp, is that it is not incumbent upon the west to make you whole for what you lost. I don't owe you a thing for what you were; your misfortunes; or your inflated sense of what you are entitled to.

You may win, but you have shown yourself to be wholly lacking in anything resembling integrity, and that is the real affront to the dignity of the profession.

I simply stated the facts as I see them. I've never said that USAPA was not to overturn the Nicholae windfall....it should. . Things could have turned out better in my career, but I do OK as a 73 Captain and Guard Major, so don't waste your "sorry" on me. I just simply think that the 15th year AAA furloughees deserved better treatment than AmWest new-hires. As for integrity..................won't go there. Good luck.
