Like any change, it involves uncertainty, and we, as pilots, don't like uncertainty. The seniority list integration is a big wild card, and while the process will try to make it fair, some disparities are bound to occur. (Hopefully they'll be minimized.)

While some may initially do better in the SLI than others, the combined company will ultimately provide a better career for all of us.

I will say this. DAL has been looking in to DFW since it closed over three years ago. Fact is that as much as closing it may have been a mistake, it will take a lot of long term tax and fee breaks to get us to re-hub it.
There is no where on the current airport that could offer a "group" of gates that wold work. Most of Terminal E is taken up. All that is effectively left of E is Gillian's Island and that is still a long walk away from our other gates.
The reason we left was the diminished yields that the DFW market produced. It would not get any better with AA still there. This and the fact that MEM and ATL are still way too close for all of those bases.
I would love to see it, but I will not hold my breath.

I encourage all the DAL (and NWA) pilots who thinks this merger and/or DAL/NWA of the future is/will be crap to immediately leave and get a flying job elsewhere-Asia is hiring a lot.

I will be applying to NWA/DAL as soon as they begin hiring (unless I get a good job before then). I will appreciate the extra slots that are freed up.

Good luck, and God Bless!

PS-My airline just furloughed, like so many others in recent months.
ROFL .Asia may be hiring now but 09 will be a different story all things considered and as far as getting in line It will be a long line indeed.
Won.t be many slots open if they start to cut back due to economic reasons.

Heard the sound of thunder how far off I sat and wondered!

Funny how the night moves, when autumn closes in.

Go listen to some Segar for the answer.

Just for the record 12 day trips tend to go senior a lot, a fair amount of pilots prefer to go away one time and not only minimize commutes but knock out all the work in one shot.
