Default Fleet Simplification

The ink is not dry on the merger paperwork and RA is already using the dreaded words "Fleet simplification". NWA pilots may not have heard this term before but Delta pilots know its bad news. We were fleet simplified into stagnation and furloughs. Hopefully we will get more specifics from management in the next few weeks. I think everyone needs to hold onto their hats (new and old!) its going to be a wild ride.

"We’re watching closely and we want to make certain that we right size the airline,” Anderson said. He also said Delta will likely move toward a “fleet simplification,” meaning that some aircraft types may be removed from the fleet of the combined airline."

100 less 50 seat RJ's in the next 12 months
Loss of the 742
MD-90's if we cannot make it a fleet.

I think that is about as far as they can go for two years.
Maybe the 744 in a little longer.

He couldn't have said this prior to DOJ approving the merger. Everyone's Congressional testimony was that there would be no job cuts, route cuts, or cuts in city servicing. They had to continue that line of blather...until the DOJ approved the merge.
