Branson would never let the brand be associated with Spirit or Frontier. Jet Blue maybe...but there is a wide gap in service that would be difficult to bridge. So it's easier to stick with what you have and grow it the way you want to.

Why wouldn't he - it is his money to lose all this time anyways.

JB only has 190's. Virgin is the only close product to JB. Spirit is far to nitch and Frontier ??? I have heard rumors of spirit making a play for them but that is just rumors from a Spirit jumpseater.

A Spirit merger or acquisition of Frontier is a possibility. One of the investment groups (ANCHORAGE CAPITAL GROUP, L.L.C.) looking into Frontier also holds a minority position at Spirit. Frontier has been self branding itself as an ULCC and just announced an additional fee system that is every bit as pesky as Spirits.

Considering Frontier is investing heavily in TTN, they would be a good fit for Spirit or (don't laugh) Allegiant because TTN is their kind of town just ripe for the Florida market. Allegiant is doing well in obscure places like RFD and LRD so TTN could be a good fit for either.
