Default Does Southwest have another play?

Now that AirTran is officially gone and integration nearly complete the chatter continues. I've heard from a few friends that Southwest is going to make another play and that big changes are coming. Gary Kelly did say he would add 50 destinations with half of them launching in the next three years. Can WN pull this off alone or are they planning to do this through another merger/acquisition? Have we seen any route map integration?

Kelly says Southwest will add 50 new destinations, finish AirTran integration - Dallas Business Journal

He said that about a year ago! and that article is almost a year old! and just from experience....GK does not drop hints to the media for sure! So, for these purposes, they plan on doing it all alone - but I wouldn't rule out a future buy out - it's just not part of the "50 new destintations" plan..

I've always thought Southwest could make a play for Spirit. And Southwest may have enough horsepower to get it by the DOJ.

Why spirit? Makes no sense, totally different and doesnt compliment there operation.
Southwest would do nicely to get Alaskan.

I agree, Southwest may just take over Spirit and get rid of the competition.
