Thinking of Mesa; am I crazy?

JPSO this is my two cents on your questions/comments….
As a commuter you would have a relatively easy commute and QOL if the flying out of ATL is not appealing to you or you simply cant hold it right away. Tomorrow on United there are 7 flights to IAH on United from ATL. Most of said flights are on Mesa making your priority good as a SA0 on 5 of the 7.
FO Reserve is less than a month for E175 in IAH unless you bid it. You may not have a commutable line right away, but the commute shouldn't be the worst.
Additionally you may have 5-6 months in the school house. Upgrade times are 22 months. Essentially it is less than 1.5 years from IOE to forecasted upgrade. Worst case It shouldn't take too long to become a SR FO and transition to ATL.
Mesa rewards those who work. If attendance bonuses stay and 300% stays then you can easily make better money than your peers at other regionals. Even if 300% goes to the 200% per the contract the open time is paid at a higher rate than many regionals who pay 150%.
There are first year FO's who earn 6K/month in just credit + per diem (I.e not including your sign on bonus).

Wonder why Endeavor no to you with experience? Is it because you are not current. I have the same time you do with no 121 experience and surprised I have not gotten a call. I have a interview with Skywest. I am hoping I can get based out of Atlanta.
I was told by a Endeavor recruiter they are over whelmed right now with pilots with current 121 experience applying and they are making them top priority.
Best of luck I think Skywest might be a good choice out of Atlanta.

Bonanza, just “milk” SkyWest for as much training as you can before coming to Mesa. And, stick to the CRJ when you come to Mesa, it will help you here with your training. If you can’t pass their CRJ training, you won’t pass our Ejet training either.
It is a pretty simple decision. If he can get a call from Endeavor, he should go there. If he wants to fly the CRJ, he should go with SkyWest. If he want to fly the Ejet, he should go with Mesa.

Thanks.
I assume so; no other skeletons in my closet.
Sounds like the relationship Mesa is creating with ATL is not stable due to past behavior. I certainly agree on a delta carrier. I was surprised to get a thanks, no thanks for endeavor without even an interview. The only reason I was thinking of Mesa was for the ejet; which is what I have previous experience with from Republic Airlines. My thought was to make a return to 121 flying in a plane I was already typed in, living in base.
I would be very careful of coming to Mesa for the ATL base. I would not do it my self. You live in Atlanta and don't want to commute, do what makes sense and go to a Delta Connection carrier. I would even recommend trying Endeavor one more time. I assume you are also trying SkyWest.

Saying that, SkyWest does have a good relationship with Delta. It might even become an Ejet base in time. And, I would be at SkyWest if they had the right Ejet base in the right city.
Mesa will always hire you if you don’t pass SkyWest’s CRJ program.

What was the hire date of the class where the signing bonus was backed out of? There are usually dozens of happy FO’s fresh off of IOE each month.

They still got a portion after ioe but not the retention bonus.
To be fair, bonuses shouldn’t be a deciding factor on where you go anyways.
QOL is what you should be seeking imo

So, basically you know nothing if you don’t know the specific class date. There are two retention bonuses, one at 1 year after IOE and another 2 years after IOE.
By the way, the 1 year retention bonus is peanuts compared to the IOE bonus. And, classes won’t resign enmasse one year after IOE.
And, no one should expect to get the 2 year retention because you have to not be eligible for a CA upgrade. And, everyone here is eligible for a CA upgrade at the 2 year mark.
My buddies at SkyWest on the Ejet are pretty unhappy because they transferred to a base near home and have been on reserve the last 6 months. They even have to go do a SIM session to become current.
