Quote: From someone that came from Mesa... trust me that place needs this.
So they can continue to have the worst contract in the industry? If they stopped filling classes or people left, they'd have to pay their pilots more.

Quote: The mighty SkyWest doesn’t seem to have a problem staffing and they fly for everyone.
Mesa, Air Wisconsin, and commutair can't, hence the CPP.

SkyWest is starting to feel the pain. We are getting very short on CRJ Captains. I would say most are a little nervous with LGA that was just announced as a base. Our hiring has just barely outpaced attrition and I don’t know how long they can keep up. I think a lot of SkyWesters are a little envious of the CPP and flow throughs that most other regionals now have. It essentially takes a gaurentee slot away from other candidates.

We know they need that, but this is a nice starting point wouldn't you agree?

Make the best out of your situation. If it gets to that point, SkyWest is not a bad place to be stuck at. Plus we don't have a guaranteed job at UA. Far from it, we still have an interview to pass.

Quote: 35% CPP and increasing.
With whatever AWAC has/gets as well as the CRJ side of XJT, it'll be over 50%

NOBODY has a guaranteed job at UA, not even the CPP's. Not even close.

I have been amazed at how many pilots bet their career on a CPP or a Flow or some other promise. I would view these as back up plans. Do everything you can to make yourself competitive. Interview prep work. Update as often as allowed. Send letters of interest to key personnel (this still works and if/when you get the interview they will have everything you sent on file) on a regular basis. Sling as much spaghetti as possible and if nothing sticks, you still have your back up plan.

Maybe I am just crazy, but why on earth would you still want to deal with passengers, commuting, crash pads, commuter hotels, and hub & spoke flying? You don’t have to leave the 121 world to avoid all of that.

What are the requirements these days at K4? Aside from min requirements, what are they really looking for?
