Default E175 Questions

Hi everyone,

after lurking for a year or so I finally reached my ATP mins, so I decided to start applying, hence collecting information/creating account.

I'm basically unemployed (finished my contract few weeks ago) and homeless (apartment lease agreement done haha), so I have as much flexibility as one can have, and wanna start training ASAP.

1.How fast can you get a class at Mesa?.

2.Do they let choose between both frames? or depends on the timing.

3.Are there any pros to any specific fleet in your opinion?. I'm just looking for as much flying as I can deal with, since I have no obligations other than work.

4.Any specific junior bases for both CRJ/ERJ?. Typical bases one can get right out of training.

Thanks for your help,
CRJJ

Classes are basically immediately. Last I heard from a new hire they are still allowing you to choose which airframe you want. IAD and DFW are most junior for CRJ. IAH is currently only E175 base. Reserve FOs on the E175 are not flying much (30-50 hours or so) as we are fat on FOs in IAH. I can’t speak for CRJ bases. The EJET definitely has a lot of the same technology you’ll see in bigger metal later in your career. The CRJ is a good jet to learn on since it’s not as automated, so I’ve heard. Pick whichever airplane has a base close to where you want to be WITHOUT commuting is my biggest piece of advice. If you like the Houston area, pick the EJET. If not, see if a IAD or DFW fit you. Don’t count on PHX for a while since it’s senior.

Also IAD is senior on the captain side you will likely never see a line there as captain

I can live anywhere to be honest, not picky except for cost of living obviously.
So as new hire one can get DFW right out of training? (CRJ). Any idea about time on reserve/amount of flying?.

So how long are FO's staying on reserve for on the 175? Also in other threads there were the statements that contracts on aircraft were up for renewal and more information was likely in June. Is there any news on which way UAL are leaning, letting aircraft stay or moving to other operators?

I'm not even in this world yet, much less being new to the topic, but since I'd like to get IAH, it's been top of mind. It seems to me the UA E175s are going to be placed where ever there are pilots to fly them. That's probably not going to be XJT any time soon, even IF UA's real long-term goal is to give XJT as much E175 flying as possible since they own 49% of those profits.

But will they stay at Mesa? Sounds like there are plenty of FO's. But what about CA? Is Mesa staffing the E175 CA slots fully (honest question, I have no idea - I know they have been taking DECs, but not sure if that's CRJ or E175)? If so, why would UA move those airplanes?

If not......Republic is already flying Ejets out of IAH. Well known that they are heavily (if not over...) staffed. Growing the IAH base (though it's still small). Seems like it would be easy to move some Ejet flying if needed. UA owns a small stake here as well.

SkyWest - not currently flying Ejets out of IAH. Closest base is DEN.

Net, seems to me that the UA E175's at Mesa will stay there for the near future unless Mesa just can't staff them.

Or maybe there'll be some announcement tomorrow that exposes my empty cluebag!

To be based where you want to be, and relatively quick upgrades.

Are you a Mesa pilot or just another idiot from another regional who doesn’t know what you’re talking about?
