Just another type rating.

I've got around 2500 hrs in the 737, and 1000 in the CRJ. Systems are similar in complexity. Big difference is how the jets come down. If you're not 10,000AGL and 250KIAS 30nm from the numbers in a 737 then you're behind. Speed brakes are only marginally effective.

Sounds like the 74. And VNAV PTH, adds thrust to stay on the path even sometimes when trying to slow down...

A brand new FO off the street is going to be challenged no matter which plane he flies. I was behind the curve for my first 100 hours, but I can't imagine a Boeing product being that much more difficult. For many years when Mesa was flying 1900s and -8s the first jet a guy would fly would be a 737 after he moved up.
Simply how many bodies are in the back. Despite what mainline pilots want to think, the only difference between them and us is passenger count, otherwise its the exact same job requiring the exact same skills.

SOME OF THEM (I said SOME) definitely have the “My johnson is bigger than your johnson mentality.”
Which is very interesting since the biggest thing a few of them flew before landing their gig at the Widget was an F-16.
More than a few of them look down their noses at Regional pilots like we are second class citizens or something.
I find it nauseating.

That's when you get a good job with home basing and you smile at the mainline guys stressing over if they'll get a ride home or not as you board with a ticket in hand.
Seriously though, it's ridiculous as both of your jobs are identical.

I’ve heard the 737 is far more challenging to land than some of the regional jets and had more to do (pressing buttons and bleeds )than the highly automated 175.
