the long answer.... our current contract is only 2 1/2 years old and doesn’t even become eligible for us to begin the negotiations of anew contract till next year. That being said, IF, and I stress the IF, the company wanted to be proactive in preventing attrition they can negotiate an amendment to the current contract with (I believe, and don’t quote me in this) with a two year extension. This really would be in the company’s best interest as we need to get more bodies in the door, and we are entering the “posturing phase” of contract negotiations with American (don’t roll your eyes).

A very senior guy in IAD who is going to the 737 instead of the 175 told me that the next time the company meets with the Union to renegotiate the 737 pay scales that they want them to set new pay scales company wide. Just a crew room rumor but the guy who told me that is a very respectable LCA. I guess time will tell.

I won’t. Here’s why. What we need is QOL improvements. We need commuter hotels. Duty rigs. 12 instead of 11days off, decent per diem, and some language to stop unstacking that is used to cover an understaffed airline. The money will come as the company cannot retain pilots. They showed that as the didn’t exercise their right to reduce starting FO pay year over year. So raising pay, pushing out the amenable date without any other concessions is in their best interest.
