I'm right on the edge....... but it would make sense. And be conservative. I was expecting more like a 50% shrink.
100 Captains would be a 21% decrease. |

I heard a rumor they are discussing to downgrade 100 captains company wide.

It’s not straight forward because of relative base seniority but my rough math puts it at about 640 seniority number as the bottom ca with a 20 pct shrink. We lose more ejet than crj captains because ejet is more Jr. May force some ca displacement to the ejet side. It’s a mess no matter what and this number is sheer fantasy. We know nothing. The public stance is stated in the investor call. JO would rather have a reduced hour MOU than to furlough.

I’m sure he would rather see the MOU than furlough - it’s much more cost effective for him. Maybe it’s just me, but I find it hard to make ends meet at 76 hrs. I do not want to make less, this is my job, not a hobby. If flying doesn’t pick up significantly for us in the next month or two, I think furloughs are inevitable anyway.

[QUOTE=terks43;3072167]Make sure you explain that to the new hire FO who will be without a paycheck then. Can’t go back to instructing now either. So McDonald’s then for our new hire FO’s. Or amazon. No one else is hiring right now. The country has stopped. Good to know we have no second thoughts about kicking co workers to the streets though.[/QUOTE
The junior guys I have spoken to seem to understand that furloughs are part of the dark side of this business. They are professionals. It sucks, but it is simply part of how this profession works with our seniority based system. These are the times that seniority matters - one number can mean the difference between employment or furlough, captain or downgrade. The last thing we need is to give the company a chance to weaken our contract - Christ, we already gave them the chance to lower FO pay. Thankfully they didn’t exercise that option. |

Compare our pay rates to everyone else’s why do we need to be further below every other airline. JO needs to use the money he was trying to spend on another airline.
