Default Dear Union Leadership.

Union leadership, knock knock. Time to show some, you know, leadership. What are we expecting here? The silence is deafening. Should we all be expecting to get based in Houston? Should we be putting out resumes? Your fellow union members are kinda depending on you in these situations. It’s time to step up and do the job we pay you for. And an Email telling me that the number of COVID cases in the pilot group hasn’t changed isn’t an update. We need frank information. I know a few of you have a “privileged” seat and know what’s happening behind the scenes. It’s long past time to share what you know. Exactly what is the situation with this company. Are our jobs in jeopardy. Do your job.

+2...I’m always amazed at info that other MEC’s send out to other pilot groups. It seems like the ENY MEC does a much better job at communicating to their pilots. They seem to communicate what the company is asking for, what was rejected and accepted and what they think the company may be asking for in the future.

Hell, I heard from ENY about about losing airplanes and this months reduced schedule well before hearing anything from my own MEC or the company. Actually, I may be wrong but I’m not sure our MEC has said anything of significance since it’s happened.

By the way, next month we supposedly go from 21 flights a day to 51 flights a day. Not much of an increase if true, but I’ll take it. If ENY knows this stuff our MEC should know and comment.

Why haven’t they addressed our reduced schedule this month?

Agreed, also, I know our contract states 2 week notice on furloughs. I’m really hoping we get more than that. How that seemed like an okay amount of notice is beyond me.

I can’t swear to it, but I believe that a furlough at a company employing more than 100 employees requires a 90 day (or maybe It’s 60 day) notification of impending furloughs except in extraordinary circumstances.

60 day notice per the WARN Act

Part of why other airlines unions send out better info is their companies might be more forthcoming with info. Ask your reps, many times the union is finding out major info on the company the same time as everyone else.

There are members of the union here that have a privileged seat, aka close to management, and know what’s going on behind the scenes. Not all members of leadership but there are some. It is those members jobs to pass that information on to their fellow union members instead of keeping it to themselves. End of story.

Dust off the resumes ladies & gents. A reduction in pilots is coming. Management is going to tell you when it benefits them the most, no you.

Strange. Considering several CP folks have been given CJOs in the past 2 weeks and told to possibly report to the schoolhouse in July
