My inquiry is to prove/disprove my theory. A 737 type rating is obtainable at Mesa and the 73 is no longer senior. Aviate is no joke. |

Skywest is roughly 4 times the size of Mesa. (Arguably more stable). QOL varies but I can’t say one is better than the other. Mesa will build time faster. Mesa is significantly more money. 401Ks are within a percentage point or two. Don’t discount the 10.00/hr. That’s 760 a month more minimum and easily much more. You will probably credit 85-95 a month so that’s 850-950 a month more. Nearly 10,000 a year.

Go to Mesa Hands Down
I went to an AA WO and I regret not going to Mesa. The WO are fat on FOs, there is almost no extra flying and zero open time. Lots of people sitting reserve. From what I hear at Mesa there is much more open flying, they have different fleets to choose from, and you get aviate. Mesa you'll get more hours and the opportunity exists to work overtime. I also don't like that Skywest doesn't have a union. Maybe people will say the unions at regionals are worthless but from what I've seen it does limit their ability to fire you for minor things. If it was me I'd go to Mesa.

My inquiry is to prove/disprove my theory. Now I don't see any complaints on either. |
Check the health insurance
Check the health insurance from both carriers. Mesa’s for the “premium” health insurance for a family is prohibitively expensive fyi. It’s like $1600/mo.

Almost $20k a year for a family plan? Jesus.
Don’t worry though, the extra $760 minimum straight cash number Boy Wonder pulled directly out of his ass will make up for it. |
Going through training here now and don’t have any real complaints. Nice people in HR and the training department. The pay is really nice and you’ll fly here (close to 90 hours a month) which ultimately gets you to wherever you’re end goal airline is. Some may say this is still the “honeymoon” stage but I have no complaints here and would definitely recommend Mesa if the bases work for you.
