5 out of 9 out of the first class, let the fun and games begin ladies and gentlemen. I really don't think more than half of all of those that confirmed yes will actually show up for their assigned class date.

Heard from one of my buddies who's NOT going back (but said he was) that he got a phone call asking him to move his class date up to the 2nd Jan class from late spring. He told them uh-uh. NO way JO-se.

I guess they better get that next batch of letters out pretty quick or they're gonna run out of warm, willing bodies.

What.......you guys know you'd all miss Groggy's!

For the people returning; is Mesa going to make you sign another training contract?

My understanding was that after the initial new hire training contract the only other contract that could be imposed was if a pilot upgrades to CPT.

No, you will not be required to sign a training note since you were displaced out of you original position to furlough...

Does there appear to be any new flying opportunities for Mesa or is it just slowly fading away?

That seems to be the million dollar question. As usual the rumor mill has been cranking out new ones daily, though the most recent ones that seem to have any staying power are:

-We bid on Eagle flying and got an award (optimistic quote of 100 145s out of MIA)
-Republic E-jets that they are returning(?) to USAir
-USAir E190's that none of their pilots want to fly (and we actually pay better on!!)

*also of note, apparently several months ago there was a big party at corporate celebrating some "good news"

my mesa optimism says the good news is something like: "good news everyone!! 1/3 of you get to keep your jobs!!" (just imagine in the voice of Professor Farnsworth from Futurama.

Those are all good rumors, but when will they make an announcement? It seems that they would not want to retrain all the ERJ/Freedom guys called back to the CRJ only to have ERJ flying pick up for EGL.

That would be a waste of money, eh?

Unless of course you're just being facetious ...

I think you're taking these rumors a bit too seriously. They are completely out of left field and there is NO WAY any of these will come true.

Here's a good rumor to hold on to: United might NOT cancel half of our 20 CRJ 700's next year. Seriously, that would be devastating.
