Nope, no reason on earth I'd start over at another regional.

I think the recruiters are more so going for guys that have recommendations. The emails with class dates are just to grab your attention. There are plenty of people who haven't even heard back following up on those emails. And most people are passing SIM. Most guys here have 135/121 time. And 95% of flight instructors I know with even less than 1500 hrs have gotten through 121 training so what are you talking about struggle to get through.

A 1 out of 20 is a HUGE washout rate. That's means 1 guy on the average out of every class is not going to make it out to the line. That would haunt that guy for the rest of his life. Is that guy going to be you? Is it worth putting your entire career on the line because there is a 1 in 20 chance you get dropped by your first airline because you plainly just didn't have the experience?

This is just messed up.

Then maybe some folks just aren't cut out or capable of performing in the 121 world. Nothing new there! Are suggesting airlines should subscribe to the "Everyone is special and everyone gets an award" mentality that pop psychology has shoved up the public' arse?

Are kidding me? Absolutely not!

Some, very few, are not cut out I agree. But some just are not ready for the jump. And Mesa seems to not care whether they are ready or not. A smaller screening process not only could help the company, but the applicant as well.

I agree that it's not beneficial to the less qualified, but at 23+ years old! and 1500 hours, applicants should be able to make an informed decision of whether or not they're ready. It's just like in high school; if you're not ready for the SAT test and bomb it, is that the testers fault? No.

We've had plenty of 1500 hour 172 instructors that passed. If others come in and have weak ifr skills or whatever else, that's their problem. They showed up unprepared, and they didn't put in the work. For less less experienced, it may be necessary to study during every free hour during training. There are plenty of materials available, and every group I've seen through phx has been willing to go to great lengths to help each other be successful.

Hemmm...interesting! If one failure in 20 is too many, can you give me examples of Regionals where the numbers are better?
