They're hiring below mins now, contingent upon you meeting the mins when you show up to training. I'm not even available until this fall, so I was looking to get a CJO well in advance. Some are looking at apps as low as 100 hours, which is pretty crazy.

One common allowance is for folks who need ME time...

They can count 25 hours in a level-D sim, so they can be hired 25 hours short, and will get it during new-hire training before the checkride (which is also their ATP ride).

Interesting I stumbled upon this post. I just got off the phone with the head person over at my local FSDO, and posed this exact question.

I've got 1,380 total time with civ + 781 time in the military.....but I also keep a log book that I log my Mil time in from taxi-to-shutdown and that puts me at around 1,518 - so I asked what I should do, and she told me very definitively that my personal log book was what mattered.

It's an odd situation though, what would an airline think looking at an application with 1,380 in for the total time, but an unrestricted ATP??

Friend's son got hired at a regional with 1430 hrs. With sims and IOE they get 1500+ hrs by the time they're signed off.

I'm glad to hear your local FSDO told you that. I plan on bringing just my GA and personal mil logbooks to training in a couple months, since they are both 100% legal. I don't think anyone would question it because its for a completely reasonable reason.

When I got my ATP, I brought my civilian logbook (piston time, etc) and personal military logbook whose times matched my military flight records. I also knew exactly how many military sorties I'd logged (something like 800). Different airlines apply different conversion factors to military sorties for application purposes (some do .2, but SWA is .3 - https://swa.pilotcredentials.com/ind...qualifications). If you search the FARs or FAA website enough you might find definitive conversion guidance.

Anyways, conservatively 800 x .2 got me an extra 160 hours, putting me comfortably above 1500. My ATP examiner had no problem with this (I hadn't applied anywhere yet). Not really a need for a third "converted" logbook.

Correct, you would need to get to 1500 hours in sim, I think 1475 is about the lowest number of hours you could start sim with (maybe 1450 in some cases).

Unless they do IOE in empty airplanes...

He could have a restricted ATP and meet the 750/1k/1,250 rATP mins.
