What does traveling usually entail in regards to your missions? What is the most common reason for travel?

Agents will typically fly in most if not all of the border states. We travel to support other air branches as needed based on migration patterns. We also supplement local authorities during major events like the Super Bowl. We also support our international partners. I have worked in seven states and seven countries while working for CBP.

Does anyone have information regarding a possible 10% bonus for pilots?

I heard it was signed and it’s only for pilots with 13 years or more with CBP. Don’t take that as gospel, it’s just what I read on a couple text strings that were floating around tonight.

The most common reason for travel is for vendor or NATC training, or give or take a checkride.

Default New hiring/academy experiences

In the initial stages/application. How are things going for new hires currently? What's the academy experience like now? I've been told it's a gentlemen's academy by one and another makes it seem pretty tough.
I've read the previous comments but aside from the (very informative pension/retirement breakdown) most things seem to be from a year or two ago. I was told there's some possibility that you can potentially negotiate duty stations before accepting the final CJO from a recruiter. I see the 3yr contract is still in place as well. Any other Intel for someone considering AMO?

Interesting that they went with 13 years with CBP and not AMO. So it is specifically designed to include people who are new pilots but have been in CBP (including USBP & OFO) for a while yet said to be to retain experienced pilots…….

10 year pilot = not experienced
2 year pilot who used to be in USBP = experienced.

This retention problem is a real head scratcher.

Lol

And that is exactly the problem. It’s not consistent.

Anyone who thinks my comments are too harsh doesnt work weekends and holidays.

Agreed.

The chronic lack of integrity in mgmt is a significant problem also….

Haha yup. In true government fashion a bunch of people accelerating retirement plans to stay ahead of the wave…. Also shined some light on a couple retirements that already happened. They will crucify the whistleblower (they have done it before) and ultimately nothing will change but it is fun to watch rats scurry……
