Default That's it...I QUIT!

I left Active Duty 4 years ago, went part time in the guard and decided to try my hand in the business world.

It sucked. 80-90 hour weeks, living on the road, and for the few hours I was home, I had a cellphone glued to my head. Plus, I was always stressed about making quota and pushing for last minute sales.

So, I'm going to throw my hat in the ring with the airlines. All of my friends that went this route seem extremely happy. They are still traveling, but when they are home, they are home!

I'm taking the ATP-CTP, the ATM written, and my ATP Practical next month.

I'm pretty pumped about this next phase of life, and I plan to lurk these message boards to learn more along the way.

I had an old childhood friend visit during his vacation. He's a minor VP at a bank and we went out on the boat for the afternoon. Spent the entire day on his phone answering questions and handling problems. I asked him if he's on vacation and why didn't he just leave his phone off? He just shook his head and kept going on the emails. And oh btw, he was probably pushing 300 lbs since his grueling work day gives 0 opportunity to take care of himself, no exercise and lots of junk food to git'er done. No way would I want any part of that world. Good luck getting hired, I'm a glass half empty guy but the grass is definitely greener on this side!!!

Yeah private sector pales to airlines unless you own the company, it's in the black, and you have people you can trust to run it.

Welcome to the party! After the ATP what is your plan? Good luck with whatever you decide, these boards are great for information.

You can probably contact a regional carrier of your choice and get the ATP-CTP, ATP etc on their dime. Its likely you will have to spend some time there anyway before any of the Big 3 call.

Pyro - I was just telling Heather how much I miss that house! By far, my favorite domicile to-date!

Bizzlepilot - Once ATP is complete, I'll tighten up my apps, get recommendations from the bros, hit submit and start interview prep through Cage/Emerald.

At least that's what everyone keeps telling me to do.

Any advice?

Seems like same strategy we all did... seems to work. I just waited to do interview prep once I got invite. That way it was tailored toward company I was going to.
