MIL to 121 regional here and dumb. Are there civilian flying jobs that pay well enough to send a kid to college yet allow me, the pilot, to be home every night in the PacNW?
Yes, this question is deviously open ended and non-specific. Thanks in advance!

99% no.
However, there may be government jobs that would get pretty close. Flying for DNR or the DOT/Governor’s Office/etc. Those will typically top out around $100k and you’re home just about every night.
I know ID has been recently hiring for DNR, but pay is lower. Flying seems challenging and fun.
I know of a couple corporate gigs out there that pop up from time to time that would have you home 90%+ nights. One recent one was in Couer D’Alene, single Pilot Citation for an owner, $75k.
But keep in mind that jobs like that are about networking in those circles, and those types of jobs often vanish while you’re there, leaving up Schitt’s Creek.
In the 121 world, unless you’re at Allegiant or really senior somewhere, you’re going to be on the road.

Yes, but you would need 15-20 years seniority to hold that schedule at SKW or HZN, I have no idea about other civilian companies.

Other than allegiant, all airlines have early AM departures from all outstations, to get connecting pax to the hubs. The plane and crews have to be already in position, so crew overnights are irrevocably baked into the hub-and-spoke business model.
That is a key driver of pilot schedule construction, and will take a back seat to efficiency if it comes down to it.
The regionals even more so, since the that first early AM flight is more likely to be an RJ. Mainline will get the same deal, but it might be at 0800 instead of 0500.
