Default AD to Guard transition

I was curious if any of you Separating/VSP guys out there have had any luck applying for Guard/Reserve units out there? Is there more competition with all the the separations/RRFs or has the new airline hiring surge/Furlough callbacks created a lot of new openings in these units? Are there any Guard bums out there that can give us some good advice or possibly how things are with Guard life and available positons. I'm looking at getting out very soon and would like to know how deep the pool is that i'm diving into....

Airline hiring booms generally increase the number of interested candidates for ANG jobs. Guys want to leave the AD and work part time while getting established in the airlines. It can reduce the competition for full time ANG jobs as the Technicians and AGRs leave for the airlines.

Each guard unit hires for their own needs. Depending on your background, rank and time in grade, you may or may not fit with a particular unit. The best bet is to start calling units you are interested in.
