Fighter unit is major commitment, especially where you are in your career. The earnings, seniority QoL, and time away from family you will be putting yourself into is honestly a huge undertaking; not worth it IMO.

UPT is also a big ask. You are correct with the squadrons wanting usually at least 6 days a month. So 2x commuting for some 3 days spats or the one off you can do a XC weekend and run all 6 at once. But, its AETC. You will do more than 6 days. Ask anyone. Eventually you'll be asked to cover a line here or there, boom there is an extra day. SOF qual? Need you next week since LtCol X, Y, Z, isnt available, sorry youre all we have left...and it will go on and on.

Do what's right for you, what fulfills your goals, and balances the family. If it was me, Id be looking for more airline, less AF; but thats me. Good luck.
I did Reserve UPT gig for 13 years. If you got questions, I can probably answer.

this post is just wrong. It’s 6 days. That’s it. no SOF, no extra crap.

T-7 would be sick if it ever comes online soon. Going fighters will be a huge time commitment. Do it if that’s what your heart desires.
