Default IMA Opportunities

Anybody have any contacts or links for IMA positions (AFA LO, CAP LO, etc.) other than those listed on the AFRC job listings site.

Thanks

WW

Also PACOM, PACAF, USAFE, EUCOM and I believe the new AFRICOM at Stuttgart may have their manning document updated for IMAs.
Contacts for EUCOM (perhaps AFRICOM too, if it's not too early)
SSgt Klopfenstein [email protected]
SMS Leah [email protected]
these folks should be able to give additional contact info for other locations

I'm doing the IMA thing at EUCOM and it works out great!

Good luck,

Hey Starlifter, I'm curious do you live in Europe or stateside? I just seperated and was stationed at Ramstein. I tried for and IMA job in EUCOM but I was told you had to live their permanately to hold it. I was skeptical but time was a factor so I took an IMA job at Scott. Now I have some new options so I am wondering if what I was told was accurate. If you do live stateside how is it working for you traveling back and forth? Thanks in advance.

Hey Box O,

I do live in Europe. I spoke to the hiring folks yesterday at EUCOM and they told me that USAFE has a requirement to live in Europe but EUCOM does not. I'm not sure what the truth is. I was speaking to an IMA 0-6 at Ramstein and he lives in Portland and flies for AA out of LA. He goes to Ramstein 1 week every 2-3 months and has been doing this for years.

I guess it would take research...

Good luck,

Box O,

I also remember there being some IMA billets at Elmendorf in Alaska Command. This is a little dated info as I left EDF in 98'

Are you getting affected by PBD 720? Cat B to Cat E forced move.

Lifter,
Thanks for the info, it would probably take some research. The trick is to find the right reg myself because everybody else will always give a different answer.

I am affected by PBD 720 however I don't know to what extent yet. I had orders and my assignment was effective on 15 Sep but I hadn't performed any duty days yet. So, my unit is researching it and getting back to me. I'm kind of hoping it will be an opportunity to maybe get a EUCOM position or Robins AFB. I was hoping for one of those two originally but it didin't pan out with the timing.

My access to official info about PBD 720 info is kind of limited so I appreciate any links you could provide. Thanks!

Winged,

I can FULLY understand the lack of information!!

What I was told last week from EUCOM was that IMA hiring and some participation has been been put on hold until this PBD 720 issue is solved. I believe that means the shifting/terminating of CAT B billets and their redesignation as CAT E billets. That being said, I was also told that EUCOM, PACOM, CENTCOM etc, shouldn't take too many PBD 720 hits since they are joint funded. The orgs that will take many PBD 720 hits are the strictly AFRES units/positions (CAT B), this would include USAFE and PACAF. I was told, the reason behind this is that similar to the AD AF, AFRES got hit with budget reduction as well. These CAT B positions had been historically paid for by AFRES but now AFRES wants the AD to pay for their IMAs and the AD is balking at this, hence the change to CAT E non-paid positions.

I know of no links to explain this. I only have the letter letter dated 6 Feb 06 "AFRC Strategy for Total Force Integration and PBD 720" From Maj Gen Steiner

My participation has been halted as well until next year.

I'm sure you already know most of this...sorry I couldn't be of further assistance.
I'll keep you advised if I hear something.

Good luck,
Lifter
