Job opportunities at ERAU Job fair
The last 2 days in ERAU have been full of job options, like every year the school organized a fair where they invited a wide range of aviation companies to bring their employees search to campus.
This year we have everything, from Boing to Eurocopter and from FBO’s to Lockheed Martin. For us pilots we have almost all the big reginals and a couple of the legacies.
I was amused and some what scared with the minimums that some of these reginals had. Mesa for example had no minimums (only multi commercial). A lot of the other reginals waved or lowered their minimums if you had the ERAU CRJ course (FA 420), that was the case of ASA (lowered to 250 TT/25 multi), airlink (from 1,000TT to 0 ) and so on.
But the best deal (I think) was not found in the fair. The university created a pilot program with Spirit Airlines, in which 8 students (graduating this December) will be selected (GPA 3.5 or higher only and ERAU CFIs) to go to A320 line as FO’s. If the program is successful the idea is to implemented every semester (it will depend in the performance of these 8).
So in conclusion, if you want to be a pilot this is your time. If you are already in training keep the motivation, if you haven’t start there is a lot of light in the tunnel for now so make it happen!!!.
Go Eagles
PD: CFI need is desperate around the country , I saw some non invited companies asking CFI's if they were interested in go to their schools to work.

It's only flame if you make it flame. Fact is, it's a good time to be graduating from ANY university program with regards to job prospects. ERAU isn't the first school to have grads hired straight into large equipment.

What's a "reginal"??
Interesting bit about the CFI thing...a certain flight school that i am aware of has 3 full time and 2 part time CFI's. They are losing 2 of the full timers and doing everything that they can to make sure they have enough instructors to keep the school going including paying 30$ an hour for a fully rated (read: CFI, CFII, MEI) instructor. NO ONE has sent in any resume's and they are considering closing the school due to lack of staff.
Yeah....its getting that bad.

cfii2007 This has to be flame.........
You don’t have to believe in me, take 2 minutes and call the school 386-226-6000 ask for the college of aviation and ask them about the agreement.
This is not a secret; the agreement is known by almost all junior and senior students in the school
There is a world of opportunities in the aviation industry right now.

Btw, a couple of guys that I use to see in the UC back in the day...'82-'87, are flying with Spirit now. I saw one guy that use to work in the cafeteria with me. We worked for "Epicure". He use to pick up trays and place them on the carts. I use to bus suds. A few years back I was headed out to Denver on business outta FLL and recognized him immediately. Forgot his name, but I never forget a face.
