Transition into Airlines from National Gaurd
Hey,
I was wondering if you fly for the national gaurd for 6 years can you then transition into the regoinals and get hired? Also will flying for the NG be enough to get you into the majors or do you still need a four year degree?

I guess it depends on what you flew and how many hours you have. You'll need a 4 yr degree. Where do you fly?

It's impossible for you to be a PILOT in the National Guard unless you already have a bachelor's degree. No offense to anyone, but people need to differentiate between being an aircrew member (flying) and being a pilot (flying). If you're not acting as a pilot, NONE of the "flying" time you have will count towards any type of piloting job in the future. BTW, the need for a bachelor's degree has been discussed to exhaustion, go get your degree and leave that poor horse alone....

You can be a helo pilot in the Army National Guard without a bachelor's degree. Helo time will not help you much with the airlines though.
You can also fly small army fixed-wing aircraft, but those slots I think go VERY senior...old helo guys near retirement want that FW time for the airlines.

If you are talking ARMY NG, then yes, I know a few guys that have got on with good regionals, no problem, but they did have their commercial ticket and about 300-1000 hrs civilian fixed wing flight instructor time...If you are talking AIR NG, then you should be able to get hired by a major after 6-8 years depending on what/how much you fly. If you are talking rotary wing Army, then you need to fly as much fixed wing civilian as you can on the outside.

I'm sorry, you guys are right. Warrant Officers aren't required to have a bachelor's degree, though many of them do, lot's even master's degrees. So, yes, you can fly in the Army National Guard without a bachelor's, but the Air National Guard (Air Force) doesn't have warrant officers so they do require a bachelor's degree to be a rated officer (pilot). Sorry for the error.
