Air Force Reservist in Civil Air Patrol
I have heard that there are Air Force reserve billets in the CAP but I haven't found anything on the internet. I just got out of the military and would be interest in something like that. Anyone have any info?

I've heard of this. I think that you would earn retirement points for your days of service, but you don't get paid like a traditional reservist.
There's some links, try searching for a local unit and give them a call.

I have been doing this for a year now. It is a Category "E" billet. You are assigned to ARPC at Denver and Warner Robins. I haven't exactly figured out who does what for me yet! It is Points only, no pay. (except maybe a couple of days to do your physical and PFT stuff).
The trick is to locate the State Director (GS-12 civilian type?) and the WRC...Wing Reserve Coordinater. These 2 people do the hiring and firing in a particular state. Each state has multiple positions depending on population/size/CAP units.
You pretty much set your own schedule, going to various squadron meetings, 2-3 per month. You have to e-mail a request for orders AF form 40A to your state director every month, and he forwards it on to ARPC. Other than your physical/PFT you may never see your boss again!

A friend of mine did this exact thing with the CAP unit at Elmendorf while flying for NWA. He retired about 2 years ago.

I was initially in the ANG. My transfer into the Reserves took about 2 months. Really no longer than processing any PCS or separation. Your admin folks should be able work with the State Director once he says "You're Hired". Your job is to locate and schmooze the State Director where you want to live.
There are plenty of folks who have done this transition. Your admin folks may have to actually look for the proper paper trail in their regs. But, this ain't "rocket surgery"
Good luck.
