I guess if you want to hurry it up, you can tell AFPC you want a "365 day opportunity" and when they drop the rip, 7 day opt it.
Just promise to video tape the entire thing, it would be a great AFRES recruiting video.

Green..did they give you a reason, or did they just say "sorry"? Did you call your functional? Just curious. Thanks for all the info. I have been given the hint that if I am denied, I will be in a hot sandy place for quite awhile.

There's your first mistake. Common sense and military decision doesn't mix.

Both times the bad news came in an e-mail that basically said "We regret to inform you that your application for the Palace Chase program has been denied."

No explanation at all.

How much time do you left on your ADSC?

I Palace Chased back in July with 11 months to go on my committment. I am living where I want to live and joined a reserve unit at the base I was active duty at. I love the freedom of being out but I also feel the pressure now that I dont have that guaranteed paycheck on the 15th and 30th of every month. I am at about 75% of where I was as an active duty captain when you combine my civilian job and reserve duty. I dont regret my decision but if there Air Force isnt letting people go anymore, consider it a blessing in disguise and make the best of the situation by preparing yourself for when you do get out.

That means start saving money and banking your leave for taking terminal leave if you have a job, or selling 60 days of leave if you don't have a job. You will need the money if you have a family, I promise. I would suggest you have at least 3 months salary on hand and the more the better. Your mortgage does not stop just because your pay does and there is no such thing as free health care in the civilian world. You more than likely will take a big pay cut if you are a senior Captain/Major type and are not retiring. Obviously the airline jobs arent too plentiful right now either.

There are worse things in life than putting on blues once a week, flying regularly and putting up with the usual USAF BS. I promise...just watch the news right now.

Sorry, my computer was in the shop. It has been 7 weeks. They told me it would take 8. So, I haven't heard officially yet. I have heard a rumor that it was denied. I guess I will find out in a week. I'll let you know.

Default No more 7 day opt....

The latest email from our Sq/CC informs us that the time frame is now reduced to 3 days. Other changes were: you can not be deployed to a 365 day tdy within 12 months of a PCS, if the 365 days will take you to within 7 months of separating/retiring you are ineligible. Anyone have an other info?

I hadn't heard that the 7 day option was shortened to 3 or about the 7 month window. Good news for most guys. My XO (DO) asked me to extend a cycle or two along with about 10 other guys on base. I don't know if it's a PCS issue or a C-130 issue.
