Anyone Palace Chasing??
#31
I've been denied Palace Chase twice in the last 8 months. The most recent experience ended about a month ago. I tried to turn in 10 months and 21 days for an active duty slot in the WANG. No luck. 11M for what it's worth. They paid guys in my year group 100k to get out 18 months ago, but now I can't transfer my commitment 3 to 1? It doesn't make sense to me. I can 7 day opt but haven't received an assignment yet. Even 6 months ago if you had anything less than 12 it was an automatic yes. Not so anymore.
If you don't have too much of a committment left, look into Palace Front. That's what I've done. It will prevent a break in service, and the unit will hold a slot for you when you separate (assuming you don't have too much time left). The Reserve recruiter told me that units don't like to hold positions (TR) for more than a year. I suppose you can discuss it with them though when you apply. Mine is holding my TR slot for 10 months (I applied in July). Best of luck!

...DENIED!! I found out today that they denied me for manning issues. I was told the new magic time left for approval was 6 months versus the 1 year I had heard about (although that doesn't jive with what beis77 said). I was trying to get released 7 months early. I guess I will try and apply again with a later separation date. Beis...when did you hear you got denied? Mine with 7 weeks to the day.

Does it make a difference what your ADSC is from? Anyone know if an ADSC from tuition assistance is different? I was told by an MPF separations guy that tuition assistance won't preclude you from separating if your other ADSC's are up--although you might have to pay some cash back. However, reading this thread makes me wonder if he knew what he was talking about. Anyone have any experience along these lines?
