From Enlisted to Military Aviator?
Howdy,
Not writing this inquiry for myself.
Maybe it will catch the eye of someone out there it will encourage?
When I was overseas 06-07 with the Army Guard happened to see a copy of Navy Times with an article about a program that allowed interested and qualified Navy enlisted people to enter flight training. That was about two years ago now, do not remember the specifics, but hoping maybe some of you military aviators out there could shed some light on this. Specifics on the program, still going on? Education requirements? Success stories? Similar programs for other services?
Sounded like a great program for the Navy, sort of akin to the Army's Warrant Officer program (Which has always sounded like the best thing since sliced bread to me!)
Have seen all kinds of threads on here dealing with interest in military flying from college students, but have seen no mention of this one for those already wearing the uniform.
Could do a search for it, I know, but hoping this might catch the eye of some kids home on leave for the holidays if it pops up as recent.
Thanks,

It's the Navy's flying Warrant Officer Program. We have at least one of them going through right now in VT-6. I think the number is very small, 10 a year is my understanding. In addition, they can only fly helo's or P-3's, no tailhook aircraft.
